Seeking Comments/ Feedback for ICT Standards development work

Smart Cities are built around communities and we must leverage technology to improve quality of life, economic ability and sustainability. There is also a need to create an environment for inclusivity, foster innovation and implement data driven local governance.
With a renewed focus on Atma Nirbhar Bharat, National Urban Digital Mission (NUDM) was launched by the Ministry for Housing and Urban Affairs (MoHUA) to streamline and coordinate efforts of the urban ecosystem and thus to improve the ease of living for citizens by creating a national urban digital ecosystem that delivers accessible, inclusive, efficient and citizen centric governance in India’s 4400 towns and cities.
This can be achieved by developing and incorporating standards, which then act as a catalyst to set benchmarks for on-going and future smart cities developments in India.
The standards are to be developed in a collaborative and consensus-driven approach, in synchronisation with the National Urban Innovation Stack (NUIS) guiding principles of ecosystem-driven approach, interoperability, minimalism, unbundling, evolvable, federated architecture, and extensibility.
In the beginning of this year, the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) had released four indigenous standards on ICT Reference Architecture, data exchange and communication reference architecture, in collaboration with Smart Cities Mission, MoHUA.
Additional 07 (Seven) ICT standards are being targeted for release soon. Out of these, 06 nos. of Draft standards are now released for wider consultation which may be accessed on BIS portal at:
